Somewhat similar in appearance to Calicium tigillare and Calicium pinicola but with thalli which are gray rather than bright yellow. P. occidentale with immersed thalli and A. inquinans

Substrate #

Both preferring wood, especially wooden handrail in harbors, but with A. inquinans being reported as more flexible being found occasionally on bark or rarely on rock (CLH).
