Identification #
Much branched Cladonia of the former “Cladina” genus (Nyl.) Nyl. This species is best recognized by the blackened bases. Some specimens are deceptive and may only be blackened on the inside of the openings in the medulla of the lowest branches. The branches are often perforated close to their tips.
