A data deficient species. Peltigera behringiana is likely similar to P. canina as had previously been a variety of that species; Peltigera canina var. spuria Ach. (CLH).

Notes #

A “pelt lichen” known only from the type specimen from St. Paul Island. It may someday be found on the northwestern mainland.
