Identification #

A Peltigera that grows commonly on trees and mossy rocks. One of the few Peltigera species which develop apothecia which are almost black, the other being P. neckeri, which lacks the marginal soredia of P. collina.

Substrate #

Corticolous, muscicolous, bryocolous, on mosses over rocks.

Notes #

A common species to the northern slope of the Alaska Range.
