Identification #
A species which might be mistaken for a species of Lobaria being similarly foliose, greenish to brownish in sunny sites, and with a wrinkled, lung-like texture. Platismatia lacunosa is a much lighter color in general, and many specimens are nearly white. P. lacunosa often produces apothecia in Alaska, these apothecia grow much larger and are often clustered at the lobe margins unlike the laminal apothecia of Lobaria.
