It is the most nearly foliose member of the Acarosporales known of Alaska, an order dominated by crustose species. Because it lacks rhiznes and a lower crotex it is not considered truly foliose but subfoliose. The species also has compound apothecia (CLH). The compound apothecia are quite unlike most of Alaska&amp;rsquo;s other lichens, although from a distance they might mimic the gyrose apothecia seen in some Umbilicaria species.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
