Identification #

Parmeliopsis ambigua is a much more yellow color than any other shield or rosette-like Parmelioid lichen in Alaska. This species always produces yellowish soredia at maturity but only rarely produces apothecia with brown discs. The lobe tips are inconspicuously browned. The other species of the genus P. hyperopta is a gray lichen that is not at all yellowish.
